EMPOWERING COMPANIES THROUGH
MOVEMENT & EDUCATION

Urban Sanctuary is an all-inclusive yoga studio that was created in 2016 when founder Ali Duncan saw the BIPOC community being pushed out of healing spaces in Denver, especially in neighborhoods experiencing rapid gentrification. Located in the heart of Five Points, our creative wellness offerings aim to disrupt this pattern by providing accessible programs that connect the benefits of yoga and meditation to creative practices.

We heavily focus on prioritizing individuals mental well being through intentional movement and mindfulness practices and think this is especially important in the workplace. By providing your employees with access to different practices where rest is centered, you’re also giving them resources to reduce stress, and increase creativity, confidence and focus. In 2017, the American Psychological Association found that 91% of employees in organizations run by executives who support well being initiatives believe they are motivated to achieve their best at work. It was also found that 70% of employees enrolled in wellness programs have reported higher job satisfaction than those not enrolled in the companies’ program.

At Urban Sanctuary, we focus on holding a fully inclusive space for healing and vulnerability through movement while holding true to one of our core pillars — education. We actively provide educational workshops and work closely with Dameda Finney, anti-racism educator and community advocate for Black and Brown voices. Finney states “...it is vital that when we talk about dismantling systemic racism, that Black and Brown bodies focus on and heal through the impacts of internalized racism along with white-bodied individuals acknowledging and working through the impacts of white privilege and internalized superiority.”
